Hi! I’m Joelle Park, a content creator and producer at BuzzFeed Tasty, pop culture enthusiast, and of course, food fanatic. Growing up, I always loved spending time with my mom in the kitchen. Now I’m on my own, I firmly believe that you should always enjoy the food you make, even if you’re only stocked with the simplest ingredients. As a second generation Asian American growing up in San Francisco, food has been one of the best ways for me to express love to others and learn about my Korean and Chinese heritage.
Funnily enough, Kpop and pop culture played a huge role in me learning to embrace my Asian American identity, and it inspired me to learn specifically about Korean cuisine. I started posting videos online “eating like” various Kpop groups from BTS to Blackpink to New Jeans, and seeing the response of the Kpop community online was a great motivator to keep learning and creating. I eventually expanded outside of Kpop to learn recipes inspired by my favorite musicians and celebrities, and it’s been such a fun avenue to explore and connect with other foodies and fans.
I hope to use this blog to document my food escapades (both cooking and consuming during travels) and sharing my pop culture inspired recipes! You can find recipes ranging from simple Asian breakfasts I grew up with to long overnight stews to breakdowns of what your favorite Kpop stars ate on live streams. I’m always open to suggestions and am active on all my socials (@joelleolol) so please always feel free to leave requests!
My Mission
I hope to connect Kpop/ pop culture fans with one another through my content and share about my cultures as we cook and eat together. I’m definitely no professional chef, so we’re on this journey together of expanding our skills and understanding of the world!
